Cody and me on our trip to Disney.

It’s been far too long since I posted to this blog. I’ve missed sharing my thoughts and musings with the blogosphere. It feels so good to be back to writing and connecting with all of you.

So where have I been and why did I take a little hiatus? Well, I wish I had a cool answer, like I was traveling the world without access to my laptop, but that’s just too far from the truth. Honestly, there were a couple of reasons that I took a step back. Nothing out of the ordinary, it just happened to be a hectic time in life that took me away from the blog.  The good news is, I realized that I missed writing A LOT, so I’m back and ready to go!

First, shortly after I launched the blog, Cody proposed in Disney! It was such a wonderful surprise on our vacation and I couldn’t be happier. While getting engaged isn’t an excuse to stop doing what you love, it did mean some changes that redirected my focus.  We didn’t start planning the wedding right away, but we did need to start figuring out our future plans. Eventually, we did start the wedding planning process and Cody moved in with me. While I was so excited to live together, it was a huge adjustment for us and it took some time to develop our mutual routine.

Second, as I probably expressed before, I’m kind of a perfectionist and I felt like there was more for me to learn “behind the scenes” of the blog before I could make this a success. I downloaded some courses and programs from other bloggers to better understand all the ins and outs of being a “real” blogger. While I don’t think I’ll ever stop learning and working to make this blog the best that it can be, it was easier to take a step back from the writing process and focus more attention on developing a game plan.

Lastly, I realized that I need to refocus this blog to better match where I am in life. As you know, I started this blog with the idea of a “Thirty Before Thirty” bucket list. While I talk about all sorts of topics here, that was the backbone of how this all started. The idea started before Cody and I started dating, so I was focusing on a more single lifestyle (for any of you wondering the timeline, I started the blog offline way before it went live last summer). Obviously, now that we are getting married, my life has changed from where this all started, so I think the blog should change a bit, too. More to come on that soon!

So all in all, I never forgot about my blog, but I had to step away for a bit as my life recalibrated. As things fall back into place online, I’m sure I’ll have more life updates along the way, but hopefully we’re full sail ahead with Milk Glass and Mimosas.  So grab a drink and keep reading!

Thanks for all your support and I’ll be back soon.

  1. Glad to read you’re back. I missed reading your blog. Looking forward to each new entry on your blog & to read about the changes in your life.

  2. Congrats on the engagement! How exciting to get proposed to at Disney!! Disney World or Disneyland? Our family is obsessed with Disney and even own a travel agency that specializes in Disney. My hubby ALMOST proposed to me at Disneyland, however, he waited till we got to Santa Monica where he had planned to recreate one of our first dates. Glad that you are back to blogging! Glad to have found your blog and can’t wait to read more!

    • Thank you, Jennifer! It was Disney World in Epcot during the Food & Wine Festival. There’s a bridge in Italy that looks like Venice and he proposed there. It was really special. I’m glad to find another Disney lover — my engagement ring actually has hidden Mickeys 🙂 Thank you for reading my blog! I look forward to checking out your blog, too! -Erin

  3. Lovely post. Sometimes we need to distance ourselves from the ‘thing’ we love most to realise how much we enjoy it. I only started blogging 1 year ago, and it’s very easy to become obsessed and shut out those closest to us…family, children, pets etc. Always step back and give oneself a reality check every now and then. Happy travelling. 🌎❤️🙏🏻
